Senior Mobile Application Engineer

A public sector digital services programme is expanding its mobile identity capabilities and introducing new functionality for secure digital credentials. The engineering team needs an experienced mobile specialist who can help deliver intuitive, reliable applications for identity verification and digital wallet services.The assignment combines native mobile development, user experience improvements and secure integration with backend services. You will collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers in an agile environment, contributing to both established mobile products and a new digital credential platform intended for use by real users.

• Develop and maintain mobile applications that support secure digital identity services and credential management.
• Implement new user facing features and improve existing application flows, usability and accessibility.
• Build native mobile functionality for identity verification, including document capture and biometric capabilities where required.
• Design reliable communication between mobile applications and backend services, covering both client initiated requests and server driven updates.
• Integrate secure APIs and ensure that data is exchanged safely between applications and connected services.
• Apply mobile security practices throughout development, including protection against common application vulnerabilities and misuse.
• Improve application responsiveness, stability and accessibility across supported devices and operating system versions.
• Work closely with product and design teams to translate user needs into maintainable technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, testing and continuous improvement of development practices.
• Coordinate implementation across related product teams and contribute to the delivery of new digital wallet capabilities.

• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience developing mobile applications.
• Strong practical experience with native development for iOS or Android.
• Experience building applications where security, accessibility, reliability and performance are important.
• Knowledge of secure mobile to backend communication and API integration patterns.
• Practical understanding of mobile application security risks, including the OWASP Mobile Application Security framework and common mobile vulnerabilities.
• Experience working with authentication, identity verification or other security sensitive application features is an advantage.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, designers and software engineers in an agile delivery environment.
• Strong Norwegian communication skills, both written and spoken, at approximately B2 level or above.
• Availability for a full time remote assignment throughout the initial contract period.
