Overview
An automotive software programme is preparing a new electronic architecture where several safety related functions will be distributed across central compute and vehicle domain controllers. The consultant will provide the safety architecture perspective across teams, ensuring that technical decisions remain traceable to hazards, safety goals and allocated safety mechanisms as the programme moves toward implementation.
Responsibilities
- Lead functional safety activities from hazard analysis through safety concept and technical allocation.
- Review system and software architecture against safety goals and assumptions.
- Coordinate safety arguments across hardware, software and system engineering teams.
- Challenge design decisions where safety mechanisms are incomplete or poorly justified.
- Support audits, technical reviews and preparation of safety work products.
Requirements
- 10+ years of automotive functional safety experience.
- Deep knowledge of ISO 26262 and safety lifecycle activities.
- Strong systems engineering background with experience across hardware and software boundaries.
- Experience with HARA, safety goals, ASIL allocation and technical safety concepts.
- Comfortable leading safety discussions with senior engineering stakeholders.
