Network Automation Engineer, Carrier Infrastructure

A telecommunications engineering organisation is automating a large carrier network where manual configuration has become a significant operational constraint. The consultant will work on the engineering layer between network architecture and operations, creating automation that can safely handle configuration changes across diverse equipment and environments. Reliability and rollback behaviour are as important as speed.

• Design automation workflows for network configuration, validation and controlled change.
• Build reusable services that interact with network devices and management platforms.
• Establish validation and rollback mechanisms for production changes.
• Investigate failures across automation, network state and external systems.
• Work with network architects to turn operational patterns into maintainable automation.

• 8+ years of network engineering or network automation experience.
• Deep knowledge of routing, switching and carrier network concepts.
• Strong Python experience and familiarity with network automation frameworks.
• Experience with APIs, configuration management and infrastructure testing.
• Understanding of BGP, MPLS or comparable large scale network technologies.
