Overview
A specialist engineering group is developing the next generation of control software for safety critical equipment where timing, determinism and traceability are central to every design decision. The consultant will work close to systems and verification engineers, taking responsibility for difficult embedded components that need to behave predictably under demanding operating conditions.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical design of selected embedded control components from requirements through verification.
- Review low level interfaces, timing behaviour and resource constraints with the systems team.
- Investigate difficult faults involving hardware interaction, concurrency and real time behaviour.
- Establish design and coding practices suitable for safety critical software.
- Support technical reviews and verification activities throughout the development lifecycle.
Requirements
- 10+ years of embedded software development experience.
- Strong C or C++ background in real time systems.
- Experience with safety critical development and formal engineering processes.
- Proven understanding of RTOS concepts, interrupts, memory and hardware interfaces.
- Experience working with requirements traceability and verification evidence.
- Ability to operate independently at principal engineering level.
